CORONAVIRUS ADVICE

The staff at the Grey Street Surgery wish to advise all patients with flu-like symptoms that they cannot enter the surgery, even if they have tested negative for COVID.

In order to protect other vulnerable patients who may be in the waiting room here, we ask that you please abide by the policy in place in Northam, and NOT attend the Grey Street Surgery.

Free seasonal influenza vaccine is funded for the following groups at higher risk of complications from influenza:

*    all children aged 6 months to less than 5 years of age

*    all individuals aged 5 years and over with medical risk conditions, namely

 * cardiac disease, including cyanotic congenital heart disease, coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure

  * chronic respiratory conditions, including suppurative lung disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and severe asthma

    * other chronic illnesses requiring regular medical follow up or hospitalisation in the previous year,  including diabetes mellitus, chronic metabolic diseases, chronic renal failure

     * chronic neurological conditions that impact on respiratory function, including multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, and seizure disorders

      * impaired immunity, including HIV, malignancy and chronic steroid use

      * children aged 6 months to 10 years on long term aspirin therapy.

*    all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 15 years and over

*    pregnant women (influenza vaccine can be given at any stage of pregnancy)

*    people aged 65 years and over (vaccine that is specifically designed to produce a higher immune response is available for this group)

It is also recommended that all people have a flu shot but if you are not covered in the above groups then you will need to purchase your vaccine and bring it to the surgery when you have your appointment.

Meningococcal ACWY Vaccine now available

The meningococccal vaccines are now available for free for the following age groups.
 
12months- 2years- Nimenrix (must be a min. interval of 4 weeks after 12 month iimmunisations.)
 
2-5years- Menveo
 
15-20 years -Menveo
 
These cover ACWY strains. For the older kids, they should receive them at school, this is for the ones who for whatever reason have missed out.

These valuable vaccines are now in good supply.  Just call our reception to arrange an injection.
